Have you ever been food drunk? I have. More than once.
It doesn’t take very much to get me drunk drunk. I’m pretty sure I just enter a bar and I have a buzz. Put a drink in front of me and I’m feeling happy. Let me take a sip and I’m turning red. A half a drink in, and I’m done.
But food drunk? Food drunk is a completely different story. Food drunk happens when there’s so much food I can’t stop myself. Food drunk happens when Andrew and I go out for Korean food and they bring us extra complimentary seafood pancakes and I eat two bowls of rice. Food drunk means I’m so full I can’t drive myself home.
I was heading towards food drunk tonight.
I’m in the Santa Barbara/Santa Maria area, which is land of tri-tip beef, so we headed to steakhouse to indulge ourselves in the local specialty. And indulge ourselves we did. My meal began with a vegetable plate with fresh salsa, followed by a Caesar salad, then rounded out with that plate of meat you see up there, which included tri-tip, Portuguese sausage, garlic bread, a baked potato, and a bowl of pinto beans.
It was so good that I ate and ate and ate, until I was almost too full. And almost food drunk. Maybe I was food tipsy.
I drank lots of water though, so hopefully I won’t be meat hungover tomorrow morning.
