Elise and I went to the San Diego Zoo today. I’d heard it was a great zoo and it did not disappoint. Not only is it huge with a wide variety of animals, but the animals were out and having fun today. I took tons of pictures, but I’ll just share the best ones with you here.
We first saw the koalas. They were adorable little blobs sleeping in the trees. We saw a mama koala with a little baby, but she was too nestled in the branches to get a good picture.
This camel was just chillin. It’s unclear how he got drool on the side of his face, but he totally looks like a Disney cartoon character. I mean, look at that smirk.
The flamingos were squawking like it was nobody’s business. They basically look nuts as the flapped their wings and paced around their little area on their spindly legs.
This dude looks CRAZY.
The rhino was totally kickin’ back.
And then the real show began. The male giraffe was seriously getting frisky. The female giraffe did not seem as interested. I think she had to go wash her hair. I think a number of children were traumatized today.
We saw an elephant having a snack and then getting his snack stuck on his tusk. It didn’t seem like having a giant branch hanging off his face bothered him too much though.
We also caught the male polar bear totally checking out the female polar bear. She’s got some junk in the trunk. The animals were really getting hot and heavy at the zoo today.
The giant tortoise was having none of that.
And this dude was just trying to eat his lettuce in peace.
And then I got up close and personal with an orangutan.
Seriously, he walked over and plopped down right in front of me.
I think parrot was feeling shy. Or was just sick of all the commotion.
But he looked better than this guy, who looked like he had a rough night.
After walking around for a good 7 hours, we got back to the house and I immediately fell asleep for a while. When I woke up, Elise was making this awesome orange caprese salad. It was just as good as it looks.
Now I’m pooped.
