Tonight was Elise’s last night in DC. It’s hard to believe it was six weeks ago that Elise moved in…time sure flies. While she’s been here, we’ve had our fair share of adventures. We had our Fried Day, Jim came to visit, we went up to New York, we celebrated her birthday, and we ate a lot of donuts.
It’s been so much fun having her here and it’s going to be so weird when she leaves. She fits in so nicely here with us and totally puts up with our weird and quirky behaviors. Also, she cooks a mean quinoa. But alas, Elise has her own life back in Chicago. She has Jim, and research, and her own apartment and bed.
Tonight we went to Founding Farmers in DC as a send-off dinner for Elise. After an exorbitantly long wait, dinner was served and it was pretty good. As is our tradition, I got a meal of steak, mac-and-cheese, and green beans, while Andrew got the fish. Of course, I paired my dinner with a Fraise Fling, which borders on being the girliest drink on the menu. I like to mix things up. It was tasty though. Elise had a giant southwestern salad, but would not succumb to our peer-pressure to drink one of the many gin-based beverages.
Now Elise is packing up and will be hitting the road early tomorrow morning. I’m going to miss having my baking slave partner around (we have one more awesome project to show you guys soon though!), but I know it won’t be long until we’re sleeping in Elise and Jim’s spare room.
