After taking a sample poll of banana bread eaters, the results are in for Andrew and my banana bread bake-off. We carefully sliced our banana bread and put them in number baggies so as to keep the baker of the bread anonymous. Then each taste-tester was given the chance to try each bread and vote for their preference.
And…
By a margin of 3-2 (Aliza in the bottom right picture was not actually a taste-tester, and I’m not sure Aubrey really counted as a voter), Andrew’s bread won out. I AM SPEECHLESS.
Ok, I’m not. But really? What the heck? How did this happen? HE ALMOST FORGOT THE BANANAS!
It was universally decided that my bread was prettier, but Andrew’s bread tasted…well, worse for you, thereby preferable. I suppose the ratio of fats to non-fats in his bread was higher which led to a denser, more dessert-like cake banana bread, compared to my lighter, more breakfast-like banana bread. Andrew’s recipe is below.
This was just another kick in the face today after, well, I got kicked in the face. By Aliza (from the above picture). Her foot was up in the air and I just launched my face right into it. Which led to the expected results of me flat on my back, nose bleeding, and a lovely swollen nose at the moment. I followed up this delightful performance with a swift knee collision during my next sparring match and great big welt on my left knee. Really a banner day for me. Three for three.
One of the bright spots in this day was going to Simmie’s! Yes, there is a placed called Simmie’s here! Somehow I managed to get through 5 years of my life living in the area before discovering this place ever existed. It’s been on our list to visit for a while and today we made it happen. It’s a cheesesteak and wing place and when we walked in, we were greeted by Simmie himself! It was so weird meeting someone with the same name as me. Doesn’t happen much. 🙂
Also, the sandwiches were pretty good.
Today was quite a day…I wonder if tomorrow will be as much of a circus…

Unbelievable!!! Obviously there needs to be another cook-off…
Well, I’m not sure which one got sent to my daddy, but whatever I tried was delicious 🙂
Geez, first Lehigh beats Duke and then Andrew’s banana bread beats yours… what will the next upset be?
