Today is my taekwondo coach’s birthday. Can you tell what kind of car he drives? I’m proud to say this was one of the fastest cakes I’ve ever made (how appropriate). From raw ingredients to finished cake took me about 4.5 hours. I made the logo by printing out the Corvette logo and tracing it in fondant. The words I freehanded. Whenever I pipe writing on a cake, it’s always a nerve-wracking experience. I’m usually afraid of making the writing too big, too small, or spelling something wrong. So far I’ve been lucky.
For his birthday, the whole team planned a surprise party. Everyone brought something to eat and we set it all up before practice. Since you can hear Master Lee’s car about 3 minutes before he actually arrives, it was easy to figure out when everyone should hide and wait. And we waited. And waited. And then waited some more. Finally, we sent a scout to hurry him along. When he walked into the room, look at all of the smiling faces that were waiting for him! It was really a great evening. Our coach does so much for us and everyone was genuinely happy to be able to pull of a surprise like this. He deserves it.
Happy Birthday Master Lee! (I can’t say you’re old, cause you’re only one year older than me…yikes.)
