Today capped off what has been an amazing weekend. With temperatures hitting the 80s today, it seemed like a shame to stay cooped up inside. So Andrew and I headed down to Eastern Market to enjoy a hot plate of pancakes in celebration of our newfound ability to eat leavened food. Unfortunately, the pancake place wasn’t serving pancakes when we got there, so we had to settle for shrimp po’boys and crepes. I know, our life is SO HARD.
After that, Andrew headed off to the Nats game, and I met up with my former roommate Betsy and her other former roommate, Shelby. Shelby is from the West Coast, so they were enjoying the nice weather and exploring what the city had to offer. I intercepted them exiting the National Archives and we headed down to the Tidal Basin. We took a stroll around the basin and checked out the Jefferson Memorial before hitting up the FDR Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Vietnam Memorial.
Along the way, we enjoyed some great conversation. Shelby lived in Korea for a while to teach English, so she taught me some Korean. Now I have to practice saying, “I don’t speak Korean” in Korean so I can stop getting weird looks at Korean restaurants…
