Before I moved down here, I was thinking about all of the free time I was going to have. I have a lot fewer commitments so it seemed like there were so many more hours in the day. A couple of my friends told me I was going to have more time than I knew what to do with, especially since I wouldn’t be baking. I sort of agreed with them. I didn’t think I would be making many cakes while I was down here, but it turns out I was completely wrong.
We have a big birthday coming up this weekend for one of my coworkers so I offered to make a cake. I had to create a mini-simmiecakes studio in my rental kitchen. I’m working with a abbreviated list of supplies, but I think it’s working out ok. I’m a little rusty, so I’m just getting back into the swing of things.
One thing I apparently never fell out of the swing of, was the late night baking. I’m still up well past midnight to finish that last little bit of decorating. Old habits die hard I guess.
In other news, we cheated death today in order to get a burrito. It was a really good burrito. It even came with directions.
