This morning I got up early to watch the Atlas V launch vehicle carrying RBSP roll out to the pad. I had no idea what to expect, but it was…well I guess what I was expecting.
It’s kind of nuts. The rocket is upright in the Vertical Integration Facility and it…rolls out that way. Straight up and a brisk pace. It doesn’t have to go far to get to the pad so it only took about 30 minutes.
It’s pretty hard to believe. We’re so close to launch! Sometimes I have to remind myself that this thing is going to SPACE. Seriously, how did that happen?
Also, that above picture of the fairing was taken by sticking my camera up to a pair of binoculars and photographing it through them. Haha, looks pretty good, eh?
