After getting rained out last night and eating a boatload of Chinese food we made the decision to scrap the rest of our trip. Looking at the weather forecast (rain, rain, rain…oh! a day of sun. But then rain before and after that.), Andrew’s flat tire, and his busted knee, we decided it was best to just move on. I was pretty disappointed with this decision (if it was up to me, I’d be riding in the rain, up and over through hills, and probably end up 25 miles from our next rest stop during a storm). However, this is probably the right decision. Since we still have a few days, we had to decide what to do with our time. If we weren’t going to keep riding, I was pretty insistent on doing something instead of just packing it in and driving home. So we did.
And guess where we ended up?! In Brooklyn! Luckily, Jen and Evan were free this evening and graciously allowed us to crash at their place for the night. We had some good Thai food and have settled in to watch the debate.
Before heading to Brooklyn we checked out The Walkway Over the Hudson, which is the longest pedestrian bridge in America. And possibly the only interesting thing in Poughkeepsie. It’s 1.25 miles long, so we took a stroll over it before we headed out of town. We stopped at the Culinary Institute of America for lunch (so good!) and then headed to the city. Our bike trip may be over, but the adventures are still coming!
