Remember when I was doing that weird project a while ago with the stuff that looked like caramel? No? Why ever wouldn’t you remember a completely unrecognizable, obscure photo from a month ago? (Oh hey, that post was exactly a month ago from when you are reading this.)
Well, you can find what I’m talking about here.
What I failed to tell you, was what I was actually doing. So I’ll tell you now.
That brown stuff is etching cream. I was etching a design onto a glass plate. And now I’m back in the etching game. It’s pretty easy. Basically you put tape or a sticker or something on a piece of glass in whatever shape or letter or design you don’t want to get etched into the glass. Then you cover the exposed glass with globs of etching cream, wait 10-15 minutes, and wash it off.
That’s it!
Then you’re left with cool designs. These are glasses I made for my friends for Christmas. The hardest part was photographing them so you could actually see the etching. I think the whole process took me about 45 minutes including the time I waited for the etching cream to do its magic. Being crafty is fun!
