(364/366)
Well first, here’s a picture of the lemon, lime, and bitters drink I made yesterday. Apparently this is a big drink in Australia and New Zealand, but I modeled it after a drink I found at World Market (oh, which is from Australia).
But here’s the BIG OOPS. Turns out on May 15th I started misnumbering my blog posts. I skipped a number so this morning as I was looking at my daily post and it said 364/366 on yesterday’s post, I thought, “hm…New Year’s Eve is on Monday, right? So that means it will be on photo 3…6…7…uh oh.”
And because I can’t just let things be, I had to go back and change the titles of every post since May 15th. I haven’t quite gotten around to changing the photo labels within every post, and we’ll see if I actually get around to that. Darn those details!
Lemon Lime and Bitters
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 3 lemons, juiced
- 4 limes, juiced
- 3-4 dashes of bitters
- 3-4 cups of carbonated water
In a medium pot, heat the sugar and water until the sugar dissolves to create a simple syrup.
While the water is boiling, juice the lemons and limes to make about 1 cup of juice.
Once you have simple syrup, combine the syrup, lemon and lime juice, and 3-4 dashes of bitters. Add 3-4 cups of water to dilute to taste. I have a carbonator, so after chilling mixture I carbonated the water, but you could just start off using carbonated water.
I’m sure you could mix this with some of your favorite liquor to make a nice cocktail. It’s a bit tart and not really sweet at all, but I find it very refreshing. Enjoy!
