Yup, I’m in Montana.
I got up at the insane hour of 4 AM to catch a shuttle to the airport this morning. One of the benefits of getting up two hours before the sun rises is that you get to see it.
As I type this, I think I’ve been up approximately 24 hours. I wasn’t exactly awake all of those hours as I went from shuttle to plane to plane to shuttle to get here, which meant I had ample opportunities for uncomfortable naps.
I’m in Big Sky Montana for a conference. I’m presenting a paper tomorrow morning and then getting my fill of space-related presentations, panels, and talks. I have to admit, this isn’t a bad place to be. I’ve never been to Montana before and as we were flying in, I peeked out the window and my goodness, it’s beautiful.
Unfortunately, my trip is short. I’ll be heading back on Thursday. It seems a shame that I’m so close to Yellowstone National Park and won’t have a chance to see it. In between all the sessions, I hope to get a chance to get out there and see some more beautiful views though. The view from my hotel room isn’t the best, but isn’t the worst. The condos across the way look like gingerbread houses and that’s a ski slope right above them.
Also, it’s warmer here in Montana that it is at home in Maryland. What is up with that?
