This afternoon we had my derby team over for some quality time. And when given the opportunity to cook for people, Andrew and I jump at the chance.
Last night, in addition to my late night lemon bars, I sort of went on a cookie baking spree. This is the cookie jar I made for our wedding and until now had been used to store gummy bears and old place cards. This morning, after letting the dough chill overnight, I made somewhere upwards of 100 cookies, cause…I have no concept of quantity. Also, now Andrew and I can ask each other “Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?”, because we’re huge nerds.
We also made caprese salad, two ways. One was the orange version that Elise showed me how to make and one was the traditional way.
Andrew also stood out in the snow (don’t even get me started on the fact that it was SNOWING again today. It’s almost April. C’mon Mother Nature, get with the program here) and grilled us a lot of chicken. It was delicious.
We also had homemade hummus and some subpar kale chips.
An afternoon of derby-talk, strategy session, and good food was a great way to ease into the week. Also, binge watching Mad Men from two seasons ago didn’t hurt either.
