I’m gonna make this quick (haha, that’s wishful thinking) because I’m thisclose to falling asleep.
Today was Jen and my relaxing day. And because we are who we are, we started our relaxing day by getting up at 6 AM so we could be on the running trail by 7:20 and run 11 miles this morning. Jen is at the tail end of her half-marathon training and I’m tapering for my marathon. The weather was brisk and started in the 50s, reaching the mid-60s by the time we finished. In other words, a great morning for a run.
After our run we cooled down and relaxed for a little while before we became famished. I may have snuck in a catnap in there too.
We headed to this cool little shopping area that was jam packed with restaurants and boutique shops. We settled on Thai and it was really good. It was just what I was looking for after a long run.
We walked around for a while. We managed to run into a group of players from the LA Galaxy which would have been cool if I recognized any of the players from the LA Galaxy. The only reason I recognized them is because it’s not often that you see a group of five grown men sitting around in matching sweatpants and t-shirts.
When we got back I was still pooped so we just hung out for a while. And because nothing is every boring, Jen’s washing machine overflowed and we got to do a little plumbing this afternoon. And by plumbing I mean draining the washing machine and then spending a good 45 minutes mopping up the water. At least there were two of us. Splitting the sopping up was good.
After our mopping experience we got to watch Bring It On: In It To Win It, which is as good as that title might suggest. We watched it mostly because our junior social dates are both in that movie as extras and it was fun to watch and try to find them in the background.
For dinner we went to this place called Torchy’s Tacos. Jen had been talking about them all weekend so it seemed like a good place to cap off this trip. It was well worth it. The food was delicious and it was well worth dragging ourselves off the couch.
Now I’m off to bed. Gotta get up early to catch a flight home. This has been one super terrific, fun-filled, and packed trip. I’m so glad I came this weekend and it’s been so much fun to get to hang out with Jen for an extended period of time. I have a complicated relationship with her pets, especially her dog Roxy who simultaneously wants my constant attention and unintentionally scratches me. It’s unexpected.
