Tonight we headed into DC to see the Gonzaga production of The Taming of the Shrew. Andrew’s little brother Johnny is on the tech crew as the sound manager. He had quite the job as there were over 35 sounds cues over the course of the show. He did a great job though. The production itself was pretty good. We’ve seen a number of shows there over the years and they’ve all been enjoyable.
However, have you ever read or seen The Taming of the Shrew? Man, that is a rough storyline. The entire show is fairly misogynistic and as each scene ticked by I kept waiting for a redemptive turn of events. Except they never came. The cast and crew did a great modern interpretation that was witty and funny despite the main point that a wife’s job is to obey her husband. So…yeah.
I think the spring play will be Johnny’s eighth and final show which is crazy. He’s a senior already and headed to college next year. Gosh, time flies.
