We got up early for our traditional breakfast out before hitting the road to head back to Maryland. I had never really paid attention the name of the place we go to every year (I think the name has changed numerous times over the years) but today I did notice and it’s called “The Breakfast Cafe”, which is very succinct and appropriate.
Since we didn’t get to get together with Elizabeth last night, she got up early and met us for breakfast this morning. She is quite the bundle of energy. Diane also came along also and it was really great to see her. Diane has been friends with my mom for as long as I can remember. When I was little I remember we used to go to this local restaurant and they would give me popcorn to eat at the table. That’s basically all I remember about this place, but apparently it had a lasting effect on me.
This place changed their menu from previous years but it was definitely a change for the good. I had some cranberry pecan pancakes that were super good and most everyone else has some variety of the Who Hash. I’m not sure what Who Hash is, but I think it has something to do with the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
We ended up getting on the road around 9:30 which was a little later than we had hoped, but since they were predicting a debilitating snow storm this time, it wasn’t that big of a deal. We ended up making it home in around 11 hours, but that was a leisurely stop for lunch and a short detour to drop off some stuff in Frederick.
All-in-all, a successful Thanksgiving weekend! Oh boy…but that means tomorrow is Monday. I’m not ready…
