As I’ve been working on putting our living room together, new things keep on creeping up. At first it was just shades. Then I reupholstered a chair. Then we rearranged everything and suddenly I’m looking for new chairs, a new coffee table, reupholstering the couch, looking for rug, and so many lamps. I’m new to this whole decorating thing and it can be quite overwhelming. When virtually anything can be part of your vision, sometimes it’s daunting trying to figure out where to start and where to go next.
I’m trying to keep this redecorating at a minimum which I think I’m doing decently by doing a lot of DIY-projects. Andrew and I have spent a lot of time trying to decide what kind of lighting we want in our front room. It has large floor to ceiling windows that are great in the daytime, but at night the room is really dark. For a while we’ve had this old lamp just sitting on the floor in the corner of the room basically since we moved in. Andrew’s mom calls in the “nun lamp” because the black lampshade gives it a sort of stern, judging look.
So, in an effort to reuse what we have, I decided to give our lamp a little makeover. With a can of oil-rubbed bronze spray paint, a new lampshade, and about 15 minutes of work, our lamp looks brand new! I’m actually really proud of my quick little makeover and our room is one step closer to being complete.
