Tonight’s Sunday Night Dinner was a little different than usual. Every year at Christmas time, Andrew’s family gets together with the O’Rourkes and have a big Chinese food extravaganza. This year however, Andrew’s parents decided to cash in on a homemade seafood gumbo feast they had won in an auction a number of years ago, so we all gathered at their house for dinner this week.
I think all of us were a little unsure of what to expect, but it turned out to be amazing. This guy walked in a with a giant pot, a bunch of seafood, rice, and bread and basically said, “Heat it up and have at it.” So we did. It was SO good. I had one heaping bowl full and I was completely stuffed. It was spicy, but not too spicy and full of flavor. I think everyone agreed that it was a total hit. And now Andrew has to learn how to make gumbo.
