Even though today was a vacation day for me, I still go up bright and early to start off the week. I took Andrew to the metro and then did a whole bunch of errands before winding up hanging out with the Abels for a couple of hours. I got a new camera over Thanksgiving and I sold Liz my old one because she wanted to try to get into photography a bit. Since today wasn’t a bitterly cold day and cloudy, it was the perfect opportunity to go outside so Liz could play around with her camera. Luckily she has three adorable subjects at her fingertips, so we went for a walk through the neighborhood to burn off some energy and take advantage of some natural light.
An hour and a half later, my hands were freezing and the kids were getting a little tired (although, quite frankly I think Liz and I were looking forward to the nap the most). After eating some lunch and stuffing her kids full of cake and candy, I peaced out before the sugar kicked in.
I got home just in time to fall asleep (I was serious about needing that nap), and woke up as Andrew was getting home. That was good because we had guests coming for dinner and I had done precisely nothing to get ready.
Raine, Arielle, and Adam arrived just as I was getting ready to put the pizza in the oven. We ended up having a really lovely evening despite my late start. There was lots of college discussion, CAPS conversation, and feeding Adam as much food as we could. I hope to do it again sometime!
If only every Monday could be this fun!
