I made my first naked cake this week. It unexpectedly took me forever (although I should have known that the simplest designs always take the longest). I thought it was going to take a few hours and it was past midnight when I started cleaning up.
I had made an extra 6″ cake that I was going to use to practice my piping skills on, but by the time I finished the other cake, I just wanted to go to bed so I decorated this cake with leftover icing in five minutes.
Andrew was in class all weekend which meant I had a lot of free time to work on my projects. I made throw pillows for our newly reupholstered couch. I made the one with the buttons.
I took the metro into the city. I haven’t taken the metro in a while. I got two stops from my destination when the train stopped for a good 20 minutes because they were single tracking.
A bunch of us from DC went up to Baltimore to watch the Charm City Rollergirls season opener. The scores were very lopsided.
After the bout we went to Paper Moon Diner. The decor is…eyecatching.
We had lamb ragu for Sunday Night Dinner.
Monday we sat and watched the news of the gigantic snowstorm happening a bit north of us. I think a lot of people here had some snow envy. We just got a pitiful dusting.
However, Melissa and I did have matching dinners up the east coast. Frozen lasagnas are acceptable, if not a little disappointing.
It’s bout week which means it’s bake sale time.
