Hearty Dinner

(164/366)

If I was a really good blogger, I would have taken step-by-step pictures of how I made this dinner. But if I was a really good blogger, you would have seen just a few and uncomplicated those steps were. So here they are in word form:

1. Go to the supermarket when you are extremely hungry. This is always the best time in order to buy only the essentials and not impulse buy Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and lollipops.

2. Plan on buying marshmallows and rice crispies for the cake you are making this week and then decided midway through that you would really like steak for dinner.

3. Buy steak.

4. Decide you need some vegetables to liven up the meal. Realize that Florida does not have the variety that can be found in Maryland which makes you think both positively and negatively about Florida. Buy green beans in a bag because fresh ones are unavailable.

5. Be glad the green beans are in a bag and not in a can.

6. Walk down the baking aisle and get distracted by the corn bread mixes.

7. Drive home and haul up your supermarket loot to the 8th floor. Be grateful for the carriages provided by the apartment to stash all your stuff.

8. Take the steaks out and let them warm up on the counter.

9. Go for a run on the beach. Run with the wind for a while and feel so fast and awesome. Turn around and run into the wind and suddenly feel like your legs are lead weights and you are moving backwards.

10. Come back and shower so you don’t sweat on your dinner.

11. Grill said steaks. Wish Andrew was here to do it, because he’s better at it than you are.

12. Open the corn bread box mix. Add the egg and milk to the mix and put it in a pan to bake.

13. Bake the corn bread.

14. Steam the pre-washed, pre-cut green beans.

15. Eat delicious meal.

16. Be proud of the home-cooked meal you just made yourself, despite the fact that it required almost no cooking.

17. Congratulate yourself on making it an entire day without drinking soda. Make up for it by eating a half a pan of cornbread.

18. Sleep.
