I had a feeling 2013 was going to be a good year. We had a few big plans in the works and a few big surprises. The year flew by, but it was full of fun, excitement, and change.
The year started simply enough when I went on my annual baking extravaganza around the holidays. I made some lemon and lime bars which were both refreshing to eat and refreshing to look at.
In February, I finally finished up a super-secret project I had been working on for months. Andrew patiently let me take over the dining room table for basically half a year while I was busy snipping paper and taking a million-and-one pictures.
In April, we took Andrew’s brother up to Ithaca. Also, I got my black belt in Taekwondo!
We went up to Rockport to get our engagement pictures taken. It was 60 degrees in MD and 30 when we got up to MA. Also, apparently we thought our photographer, Amanda from Orchard Cove Photography was HILARIOUS because we are laughing like crazy maniacs in all the pictures.
Also, our temple family had a big surprise for me!
On May 26th, 2013, Andrew and I got married! It was awesome.
I baked a lot of stuff for our wedding, including our wedding cake.
We went to Hawaii for our honeymoon. It was as beautiful as everyone says it is. With more chickens.
I got a picture up on Tastespotting! This was one of my unspoken goals for 2013.
For Andrew’s birthday I made him a giant ice cream sandwich. Because why not?
In late July, my friends threw me the awesomest, most fun surprise birthday party (almost two months after my birthday, so I had NO idea what was going on).
I learned how to make scallion pancakes and my life will never be the same.
Andrew and I went up to New York to visit Melissa and Brad and spent the entire week eating and eating and eating. It was amazing.
And then later that month we went to Wisconsin for a wedding. We got to hang out with Elise and Jim and I finally got to see the fabled Beloit College.
In September I made my third ever wedding cake which had a very sweet story to go with it.
I also went on a birthday cake making spree and made a superhero cake, a Seinfeld cake, and a Yoda cake.
Our wedding was featured on DIYBride!
Over the summer I signed up for roller derby boot camp. In September I tried out for the DC Rollergirls and in October I was drafted to the DC DemonCats. My team is the best!

And in December, Andrew and I bought a house!
So yeah, 2013 didn’t suck. I’m excited to see what’s in store for 2014. Also, to relax a little.
