Happy Mother’s Day! I hope it was a good one for all the mom’s out there.
This morning the local derby skate shop held and black and white ref scrimmage. Yesterday they had a ref clinic to teach new and old refs the rules and general reffing techniques and stuff. Andrew came with me because he took part in the ref clinic! It was his first time officiating and he was in charge of the score keeping. Pretty cool to have him around. The scrimmage itself was really fun. Our team purposefully did all sort of weird penalties to challenge the refs and it was good to hear them explain the calls as skaters as well. It’s been a little while since I actually played derby and man, I totally got a derby high.
After the scrimmage we came back and spent the afternoon lazing about. Seriously, I think both of us watched tv and drifted in and out of sleep for hours. It was quite pleasant. In the evening we headed down to Andrew’s parent’s house to have Mother’s Day dinner. It was good stuff. Andrew’s dad cooked a giant piece of salmon that was really tasty and the sides were all so fresh and delicious. I made some white chocolate macadamia nut cookies for dessert.

All-in-all it was a very fun day. I was totally pooped by the end of it, but that’s how weekends go these days, right?
