Today was Family Day at my work. They open the Lab up and guests are allowed to come inside and take a tour of our campus. This year, Melissa’s mom (The Darster) and her brother Alex came down to take a peek at what we have going on. It was quite a lovely afternoon. The drove down from NJ (!!) and arrived shortly after I finished my last meeting of the day. We spent a few hours walking around and I showed them around the Space Department building, the new Makerspace they just opened up, and the test facilities where we build, integrate, and test spacecraft. They got to see a couple of our current projects and overall I think they had a good time.
It was great to see them and it was so nice of them to make the trek down here for just a few hours of walking around my work. When I invited them, it was sort of on a whim and I definitely didn’t expect them to give up a whole afternoon to come for a visit, but it was great. I haven’t spent as much time with Alex in the past, but he was super interested and knew about all sorts of new technologies that I never heard of. It was really cool to get to spend some time with him. After the tour, the three of us went out to dinner at Victoria Gastro Pub before they headed back up to New Jersey.
Alex and The Darster, it was great to see you! Thank you for coming!
